Dos and Do Nots: Do - Spend some time with your spouse checking out the places you want to register and making lists of the items you really do need. Do not - Just add a toaster oven you know you won’t use so guests will have enough of a selection. Do - Register at more than one store. There is no hard and fast rule that says you have to register at one location only. Do not - Choosing items that are really expensive because you know you won’t be able to afford them in the first year of marriage isn’t fair to your guests. Instead, choose a wider price range selection. Do - Discuss your options with different stores, online sites and even handmade facilities. You’ll be surprised by how many places feature registries this day. Do Not - Feel limited to asking for only household goods. If you are already set up in your house and don’t need a lot, ask for some things you ‘might’ like to have or even items like movies, CDs and more.

Shopping Wedding Gowns: Try bringing along pictures of wedding gowns you like to show the bridal consultants and then ask their advice. Your bridesmaids can go with you on various exploratory trips to the bridal stores and to watch you try on the dresses. Ask your mother or maid of honor to take notes on everything you try on. You may also want to bring along a digital camera to take pictures of you in the dresses so that you can go back over the photos and your notes later.

Ordering Wedding Invitations: When you’re planning a wedding, there are a lot of decisions to be made. Among those decisions will be the location, the date, and the type of service, who will be in the bridal party and who is to be invited to the wedding. Most couples struggle when it comes to deciding how many people to invite, but it is extremely typical to send an invitation to a guest you know will not be able to come to the wedding. If you order your wedding invitations to be printed, your printer will often require a minimum number of invitations to place the order to begin with. So you should always order more wedding invitations and envelopes than number of guests you are planning to invite. There are multiple reasons for doing this, but the best reason is that it’s always better to have a few extra invitations on hand than to come up short.
